Viime viikolla eräänä päivänä... Last week on one day...

Eräänä päivänä viime viikolla, teimme ystäväni Leenan kanssa
mini Kalevala -kirjat.

One day last week, we made The mini Kalevala -books with my friend Leena.
The Kalevala is the national epic of Finland. It is based on the  Karelian and Finnish folklore poems collected by Elias Lönnrot (1802 -1884)
When I was young and still a schoolgirl, we read all the poems of the Kalevala at school during the native language classes.
This Mini -Kalevala has two first poems.
Many artists have been inspired by Kalevala's poems and have made illustrations for the books. This mini Kalevala is illustrated by

  1. What a fantastic project - your miniature version looks fantastic. I've heard about the Kalevala before - I'm a big fan of Donald Duck-cartoons and I own the complete work of Carl Barks and Don Rosa... and Don made a fantastic story using the Kavala sending the Ducks on a quest for the Sampo... ;O)
